Vehicle maintenance management with the Intellibus system

Intellibus intend to supply a innovative support at the vehicle maintenance, based on the telematics technologies use and predictive diagnosis advanced concept:

  1.  To record on board, to download to ground (at the end of the mission), in an automatic way, all the anomaly signalling found on board during the service;
  2.  To signal in time to ground the important anomalies situation in an automatic way, in order to guarantee the safety and the integrity of the vehicle;
  3.  To permit, in case of damage on road during a route, the vehicle remote diagnosis;
  4.  To collect conclusive data about the vehicle utilization and of the cycles of functioning of the individual machine members important for the preventive maintenance and to verify the driving style of the vehicle;
  5.  To monitoring the vehicle efficiency status and signal in time damage incipient status of critical system in order to the inspection and maintenance on condition;

The benefit are linked at:

  •  Maintenance of a high level of the vehicles efficiency

  •  Control and management of the corrective maintenance

 Anomalies recording found during the route  

The anomaly signalling found by the on board diagnostic system (Multiplex or conventional) during the route, are stored in a system memory alarm, associated with time, date and accumulated mileage, and also other useful information to track after the event. In case of availability of a short-range wire-less connection, the memory can be download to ground automatically when the vehicle return top depot; in this way is possible to have an immediate information concerning health status of the vehicles at the return, that permit , where necessary, a quick intervention in workshop, and an anomalies objective and detailed reporting verified.

  Moreover the alarm memory can be downloaded by remote connection via GSM/GPRS requested from a ground operator, or by physic connection with a portable diagnostic unit.

 

 Anomalies signalling during the route  

During the route are analysed the anomalies signalling of the on board diagnostic system (alarm displayed on dashboard) and functioning value of critical quantities (temperatures, pressures, levels). In case of serious anomaly, an immediate signalling is sent (by SMS/GPRS)to the qualified operator.

 Vehicle remote diagnosis  

After a damage during a route, a qualified operator can begin, by GSM/GPRS or other communication system, a remote diagnosis section of the alarm, in order to:

  •  To verify the vehicle status
  •  To identify alarm cause
  •  To define the corrective intervention more effective (e.g. postponement of the intervention at the mission end, repairing on the spot, return to depot with own vehicle or by tow)

 Vehicle utilization data collection  

The system permits to monitor all functional parameters concerning the utilization and the behaviour of the vehicles during the route, available on board. The system determines, starting from the acquired parameters, a summarized statistical data set of the vehicle utilization during the route, that can be associated on daily base or distributed on different periods according to firm requirements.

 

The possible utilization data consist of:

  •  Events calculation (engine starting up, open doors, braking operation etc.)
  •  Vehicles stay times in different working conditions important for the maintenance evaluations (slow engine speed, exceed engine speed during heating phase, overheating, Handbrake utilization, air-conditioner utilization, etc.)
  •  Statistic values (minimum, medium, maximum) of parameters important for diagnostic and operative aims, refer to specific states vehicle functioning

 

 Decay predictive diagnosis  

The “predictive diagnosis” aims to find and to signal timely the rise of anomaly or decay situation of the critical systems in order to submit the vehicle to a preventive maintenance. In the ground stations is possible to display in a graphic way the diagnostic parameters evolution time relating to a vehicle. Moreover can be compared data came from vehicle that carry out the same or similar route. The trend analysis can be executed on periodic base for a general check of the fleet status, or in a direct way in presence of anomalies signalling on behalf of the driver. The Data Base querying procedures and the graphic representation can be edited and enriched on behalf of the User.
