Intellibus

Intellibus is an integrated telematic onboard system, designed to satisfy to the infomobility demand of the premises Public Transport of the next years. The system is based on an open modular architecture, compound of onboard modules, for data acquisition and management, and ground system, for data processing and fleet monitoring.

 Onboard, the system is based on VIDAC Logic Unit that is able to link up itself with: the diagnostic and working sensors of the vehicles, with the electronic unit of government of the latest generation vehicles (MULTIPLEX system of vehicle control, engine electronic control, transmission, braking system, etc.). The VIDAC Logic Unit can besides be connected with: the most common stamping machine, the LCD system for work and use advertisement, passengers counter sensor, video- surveillance system, driver console.

 Intellibus can be applied efficiently also on the fleet, equipped of a traditional technology systems.

 Onboard system

On board architecture has to articulated technologic solutions, that is able to provide competitive reply to the market disparate requirements:

  • VIDAC2 unit, equipped with wide range of digital, analogue and serial interface, is able to satisfy the most advanced necessity of interfacing with: sensors, electronic units and other equipments on-board; 

  • VIDAC.LOC unit equipped with GPS locator and an integrated GSM-GPRS communication device, offers an optimised solution in the cost-performances ratio for simple requirements;

GAM unit equipped with a platform available with LINUX or a WIN.CE operative system, it offers excellent reliability in the net connection with the driver by means of coloured, graphic and touch-screen display. The use of the industrial standard operative systems permits the Customer to implement, in the above units, application package available on the market or realized by the Customer about His own requirement.

 Localisation

The system is equipped with a localization module that includes a GPS(Global Positioning System) receiver with 15 channels that are able to acquire the position with an error less then 10 metres; it is integrated with a high stability piezoelectric turn meter and with an odometer signal acquisition circuit come from on board wiring. With that system is possible to determine the vehicle coordinates by the “data fusion” also in the presence of temporary obscuration of the GPS satellite signals, and/or partial hardware damage (degraded function modes).

 Vehicle data acquisistion

The on board VIDAC Logic , is predisposed for acquisition of functional data and vehicle diagnosis by the appropriate connection with the on board electronic units, or directly with the analogue and digital signals of the instrumentation present on board.

 In particular the system is predisposed for the connection with the following vehicles typology:

  • All Vehicles with a traditional electric system

  • Vehicles with a MULTIPLEX system by IRISBUS

  • Vehicles with a MULTIPLEX system not IRISBUS only, if it is predisposed or by adaptation of the interface protocols.

 Remote diagnostic

 Intellibus reports in good time, at the ground station, the important Failure and degraded status in order to guarantee the safety and the good state of the vehicle mechanical parts; it records, in the Fleet archive, all failures recognized by the on board diagnostic system giving their to the shop personnel for the repair management; it collects all information, regarding the vehicle use and its major mechanical parts, finalize at the preventive management planning; it processes statistical data for the predictive diagnosis of the degradation of the critical systems, finalized to the monitoring of the efficiency and the maintenance on condition.

 Additional sensors kits for the Predictive diagnosis

The system allows to manage additional sensors for the predictive diagnosis of the degradation of the sensible systems as:

  •  Engine radiator system

  •  Engine radiator ventilation system

  •  Compressed air system  

 Onboard user informations

The system has more solution about the monitoring of the on board passengers. For the urban bus, has been developed a monitoring system of the carried live load: it is realized by the pressure signal analysis in the air springs that is taken by dedicated pressure sensor of high quality, inserted in the arm of the suspensions pneumatic circuit.

 The system allows to determine the vehicle occupation per cent during the single route between subsequent bus stops with an accuracy approximately of 5%.

 For the inter-city bus is available a low cost system, that is able to counter the number of passengers got on/got off the bus by photoelectric threshold insert into the doors.

 Finally the system can be integrated with advanced infrared counter passengers (got on/got off) systems that are available on the market.

 Driver console 

Intellibus can be equipped with an auxiliary driver console to do the following things:

  •  To insert Data by a digital keyboard.

  •  To receive and to send coded messages with the central position.

  •  To require a voice communication with a central position operator.

  •  To communicate the assigned programme and its advance/delay status to the driver.

  •  To send various information to the driver.

 

Information to the on board Users

Intellibus is able to pilot on board devices of optical and sonorous spread of dynamic information in real time for: the messages synchronization on the basis of the vehicle position in the assigned route, also in case of deviation from the assigned route; the remote diagnosis of the efficiency and the update of the configuration data bases of the devices. In particular the system can be equipped with control notice board display, or LCD monitor, as visual information, and /or with an electronic card with a recorded vocal messages, as sonorous information (next stop notice), if necessary transmitted by the operations headquarters.

  Emergency Call  

 The Emergency Call can be activated by a Pedal, it permits an automatic call for help to the operations headquarters. This pedal must be installed in a protected position in order to avoid unintentional activation.

Wire-less communications

The wire-less communication, between on board logic unit and ground informative systems, is feasible in a remote way by mobile telephony net GSM/GPRS, and/or with a short range data transmission system (SRC), using Bluetooth o WiFi IEEE 802.1b technology.
The SRC Bluetooth technology permits also the synchronization with the ground users information system (by intelligent signpost at the bus stop).

 Operations headquarters

 The operations headquarters, provides a complete view of the fleet operativity, in real time, at the authorized personnel, by a GSM/GPRS connection.

 Information for ground users

Intellibus is predisposed to communicate with an intelligent bus signpost for the synchronization of the messages that report, at the stop bus, the waiting time.

 Monitoring of the Service and Quality supplied

The bearing system of data service permits an accurate survey of the essential information regarding all effected routes, the comparison between the assigned service program and the writing of detailed reports about the service went accordingly, for operator corporation and for the purchaser management.

 Integration increase

Intellibus is predisposed to integrate other important functions finalized to the monitoring and improvement regarding the quality and efficiency of the service: • Service call management • Connection with stamping machine device on board for the validation data transmission at ground and the updating of the device related at the vehicle position on the assigned route • Connection with video surveillance systems • Connection with advanced systems of service and advertising information on board (i.e. LCD systems etc..). This kind of integration leads a low costs and improve the service.
