The
FleetWare management fleet system, based on a Stratos platform, has been developed using the state of the art of the available technologies. FleetWare is able to satisfy all demands because it can used to realize complex applications of monitoring, control and management. Particular attention has been dedicated to the envelope of the various subsystems components: the compatibility to the industrial standards, and the connectivity in an open architecture, allows to use the same modular components to realize the more suitable solution in a wide range of application contexts.
The management Operations Headquarters has been designed for modular implementations in Client-Server architecture, it can be based on the following operating environment:
The Management Operations Headquarters dimensioning, including the operating environment, its been based on the application requirements, determined by the data traffic volume and by the application transactions. The different software modules can be distributed on more workstations, or concentrated in a unique stand alone installation, depending on the application requirements.
Each workstation (either in Client or Stand Alone mode) can manage the whole fleet or some of its specific vehicles, according to the Operation Headquarters setting, and can execute all the survey, tracking and management functions.

System Expansibility
Interface with other systems
FleetWare guarantees the opening towards the most used standard Data Base management systems, like Oracle, SQL Server, Dbase, MSAccess, Informix, Ingres, ecc.
Any other integrations with company ERP systems have been guaranteed from the compatibility with the industrial standards and from the total control of the system base technology. The interface procedures will have to be defined with the company Informative Systems.
Communication channels
FleetWare guarantees the contemporary communication with the vehicles whether for continuous tracking or for the event management. The mobile communication can be assured whether by
SMS messages, or by GSM data channel communication.
The GSM data channel is foreseen for the communication with the remote terminal for the configuration, updating and control functions.
System Basic Characteristics
The system is compound on three modules:
-
Front End Processor
-
TLC
Manager
-
Stratos C4
The Front End Processor (FEP) is dedicated to the interface management with the Data Base, is dedicated to execute all commands given by the
Stratos C4 component, by means of user interface or automatically when necessary.
The TLC Manager
is dedicated to the management of all communication section: Hardware Ports, Modem, data interchange protocol management.
Stratos C4 is the componet able to interface the Front End Processor and the TLC manager; besides it manages the cartography data and the vehicle localization.
As explained in the general description, each individual module can be distributed on more workstations or installed in a unique stand-alone station depending on the applicative necessity. Any monitoring client workstations can be connected to the Main Operations Headquarters, getting from the Server the cartography necessary to the right representation of the vehicle localization. Each workstation (either in Client or Stand Alone mode) can manage the whole fleet or some specific vehicles, according to the Operations Headquarters setting, and can execute all the fleet survey, tracking and management functions.
FleetWare supports raster, vector, and Hybrid (raster-vector) cartography. The vector cartographic data are organized in to specific layers, and can be superimposed to territorial raster images like satellite maps. FleetWare foresee the possibility to customize the data and the territorial resources, and the possibility to acquire the geo referenced map.
Furthermore, the system includes reporting and printing functions of the stored data. Are available as parts of standard functionality, the localization vehicle system, the territorial resources (i.e. bus stop, depot ect.) and the analysis of the stored routes.
Web Client Management
Using a market standard WEB Browser, its possible to access to all the information stored in the Data Base from any computer in the network.
The Web Interface allows retrieving and extracting the necessary information, after the user access verification. Using a Map Server component will be able to query the Cartographic Data Base related to the requested events.
Routing management
FleetWare its able to produce in real time the best routes, as user defined, between starting and ending point, and also storing their when necessary. The points may be established from the vehicle position and/or dynamically specified from the user.
The points definition can be executed as following:
-
Current map geographic point indication,
-
Associated Resource point indication (stop, Depot, ecc.)
-
Precise address indication (street, house number),
-
Crossroads indication.
The route indication has been immediately displayed, together with and the route covered point description (trip diary).
